Preview: Complex Process
The making of a movie is a laborious process. It starts with the idea for the story, followed by the writing of the script, the searching for a producer, director and cameraman, the financing of the project, the making of the shooting script, the drawing of the storyboard, the contracting of the film crew, the casting of the actors, the taking of the footage and the editing of the shots. The process comes to an end with the projection of the movie in the cinema. A large number of people are involved in making big feature movies. The total process can last several months or even years..
A striking example of a complex film production can be found in The Making of Star Wars, episode 3, (2005), George Lucas. Scene 158, The Mustafar Duel, consists of 26 takes and has a total length of 49 seconds (1,185 frames). 910 people were involved in making this scene. The total amount of work time was 70,441 hours so it took 1,400 hours to make one second of this scene.
The organization chart makes it clear that a very efficient organization is needed to record these kinds of scenes.
